Finding space for a piano
The goal with this client was to find space in an overcrowded house to put an upright piano. After a full walk-around and consultation, we settled on the dining room/ playroom, then worked together to rearrange furniture, relocate furniture from other rooms and find the necessary piano-sized gap. We also wrote a full report on recommendations for other rooms in the house to maximize the limited storage spaces.
Making the most of a loft space
This loft space was used by a local amateur dramatic group to store costumes, props and scenery but had become out of control following the latest production. Everything was pulled out, organized, sorted, and repacked in clear, labelled plastic boxes – much easier to find next time round.
Re-discovering a spare room
This was not actually the client’s room but the ‘overspill’ room with her extra things. Although her own room was in good shape, we managed to reduce and reorganize such that the contents of both rooms fitted into her own room, leaving this room available for other family members.
Making the most of a closet
The client had some handy shelves, but they had become something of a dumping ground. She was missing a place for her 'lotions and potions' and a good spot to store and charge her phone.
A simple reorganization and tidy helped make a big difference, and we recommended her buying a set of small storage boxes to help keep the system in place.
Filing can be fun!
A filing cupboard with a good underlying system in place had got a little out of control (for about 5 years). We worked together to get through the dreaded backlog and find what was important. The client got her organizational mojo back and she incinerated a huge pile of paperwork she no longer needed. In the process we discovered some insurance and pension policies that she had forgotten she had.
